Founded in 1976, the internationally renowned W. Michael Hoffman Center for Business Ethics (HCBE) seeks to make business better. It provides leadership in creating organizational cultures that align effective business performance with ethical business conduct. To this end, the center applies expertise, research, education, and a collaborative approach to disseminating best practices. With its vast network of scholars and practitioners, HCBE provides a multidisciplinary forum for research and education in business ethics.
In 1991, the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA), an international association of ethics and compliance professionals, was founded by HCBE. In 2014, the ECOA merged with the Ethics Resource Center to form the Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI). For more than 25 years, HCBE and ECI have offered “Managing Ethics in Organizations,” the premier executive education program in the field. Through conferences and events, HCBE regularly brings business and academic leaders to campus to address key issues and current events.
