Pre-Law Advising is designed for students who are considering attending law school. While this advising is not intended as preparation for the law school admissions exam, the Law Department's Pre-Law Adviser does provide extensive advice on and assistance during the law school application process. The Pre-Law Adviser also works with the Law Department's Business Law Major and Minor Adviser to advise on course selection for students considering both law school and the major or minor. Similarly, the Pre-Law Adviser works closely with Student Advising to assist students from all majors who are considering law school in selecting courses that will maximize development of skills that are vital to law school admission and success: critical thinking, problem analysis and solution, as well as oral, written, and electronic communications. Finally, for students who decide not to pursue law school but are nonetheless interested in considering law-related careers, the Pre-Law Adviser works closely with Career Services to assist students in exploring law-adjacent career possibilities.
