The Italian Minor combines professional language study with interdisciplinary courses on Italian and Italian-American history, society, and culture through film and literature. Students explore cultural diversity, migration, and transnational identities while developing intercultural and professional communication skills. Emphasis is placed on Made in Italy and on small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—the backbone of the Italian economy—as expressions of regional identity, innovation, and global engagement.
For further information about policies related to minors, see the Program Policies page.
Please Note: Students can take any four courses in Italian language and culture. Discovering Italian (MLIT 101 and MLIT 102) and Continuing Italian (MLIT 201) do not need to be taken sequentially, but students must complete these courses in an order that requires an increasing level of proficiency.
