Minor in Modern Languages: Chinese

The Minor in Chinese is designed to provide students with foundational proficiency in the Chinese language and an introductory understanding of Chinese-speaking cultures. The program supports students who wish to complement their primary field of study with language and cultural skills that are valuable in an increasingly globalized environment. Bentley’s Chinese Minor emphasizes practical communication skills alongside cultural awareness, enabling students to engage more effectively in academic, professional, and cross-cultural contexts. Coursework includes language study in grammar, conversation, and composition, as well as selected topics related to Chinese business, media, and society.

The minor is suitable for students at a range of language levels and offers flexibility to align with students’ individual academic and professional interests.

For further information about policies related to minors, see the Program Policies page.

Please Note: Discovering Chinese (MLCH 101 and MLCH 102) and Continuing Chinese courses (MLCH 201 and MLCH 202) do not need to be taken sequentially, but students must complete these courses in an order that requires an increasing level of proficiency.
