Language, Culture, and Business Major: French (B.A.)

***This program is not admitting students in the 2026-2027 academic year.***

The Language, Culture, and Business (LCB) French Major prepares students to put French language and cultural fluency to work in the United States, in France, and across the Francophone world. The major combines language study with direct engagement with the people and industries that make French a global professional language.

Coursework emphasizes spoken fluency and business French, alongside classes on contemporary French and Francophone culture. Signature offerings include Francophone Entrepreneurs (MLFR 312), in which students engage directly with French-speaking founders and attend networking events with the French-American Chamber of Commerce of New England (FACCNE); Spoken Contemporary French (MLFR 206), a conversation course; and Global Paris (MLFR 205), a faculty-led intensive in Paris.

The major consists of eight courses (24 credits) and is designed for students of all levels, from those continuing study begun in high school to advanced and heritage speakers.

Every LCB French major completes an Applied Learning Experience, fulfilled by one of the following:

  • A full semester or more in a French-speaking country
  • An internship approved by the Modern Languages Department
  • MLFR 205 or another faculty-led course in a Francophone city

Together, these pathways ensure that every graduate leaves Bentley having used their French in a professional or immersive setting.
